Small-batch knitwear, made in South Australia
Fleurieu Made offers knitwear sampling and small-batch production for designers, labels, retailers and organisations. We knit in Normanville, South Australia, on domestic and semi-industrial flat-bed machines, with minimums low enough for a first collection or a limited run. Every piece can be assessed under the FM Index®, so you can show customers how it was made.
What we make
Sampling and development. Bring a sketch, a reference garment or a tech pack. We develop stitch, tension and shape, and deliver a wearable sample with a spec sheet. Typical turnaround: 3 to 4 weeks.
Small-batch production. Runs from 5 to 25 units in beanies, scarves, wraps, vests and simple jumpers. Lead time: 6 to 12 weeks from approved sample.
Knitted merchandise. Scarves, beanies and accessories in your colours for wineries, councils, clubs, events and tourism operators. A local alternative to imported printed merch.
Commissions. One-off pieces knitted to order. Lead time and deposit to be confirmed.
How it works
- Send the project form. We reply within 3 business days.
- A 30-minute call to confirm design, yarn, quantity and budget.
- Paid sample. The sample fee is credited against / separate from production.
- You approve the sample. A 50% deposit to book your production slot.
- Production, finishing, labelling and delivery.
Fibres and capability
- Fibres: natural and vintage yarns, including wool, wool blends, cotton and alpaca
- Gauges: 4.5mm, 6.5mm, 9mm, circular and sock machines
- Techniques: plain, rib, tuck, fair isle, intarsia, fully-fashioned shaping
- Finishing: hand-linked seams, washing, blocking, labelling
- Not offered: cut-and-sew jersey, fine-gauge industrial, runs over 25

What is your minimum order?
5 units per style and colour. Sampling has no minimum.
Can you source the yarn?
Yes. We can source Australian and certified yarns, or knit with yarn you supply after testing it.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes.
Can my garments carry an FM Index® assessment?
Yes. It can be quoted with production. See the FM Index®.
Where are you located?
Normanville, on the Fleurieu Peninsula, about 75 minutes south of Adelaide. We work with clients Australia-wide.
